The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute, Steve Clifford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Philip Sherwood succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 8th playminute. A collision led to City In Disguise getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Miles Horsey hit a great ball. Duncan Winter was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 11th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Nicky Neville's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eric Neville was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicky Neville in the 15th minute of play forced City In Disguise's goalkeeper Eric Neville to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eric Neville was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Philip Sherwood managed to get in a good position for a shot. Scarborough's supporters rose to their feet, but Philip Sherwood was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eric Neville breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Philip Sherwood sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Nicky Neville kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Eric Neville. That made the score 3-0 in the 32 minute of play. In the 38th minute Dale Lilley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Louie Broom saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adrian Gregory recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eric Neville made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Philip Sherwood sent off a good shot on target. Philip Sherwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eric Neville having to interfere. Philip Sherwood received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Eric Neville tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dean Cullen was the one to do the kick off. In the 52ndth minute of the game Nicky Neville who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but City In Disguise's Eric Neville was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nicky Neville sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Nicky Neville came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Scarborough fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicky Neville couldn't finish the play. Eric Neville showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Philip Sherwood, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. After a rather tough play, City In Disguise's Andy Higgins got a free kick in the 69th minute. Duncan Winter was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 69th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind City In Disguise's goalkeeper Eric Neville, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Eric Neville showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Philip Sherwood, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. The audience was convinced that Philip Sherwood's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eric Neville was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. In the 86th minute, Ralf Dowdall hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. City In Disguise's Eric Neville played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Philip Sherwood in the 88th minute of play. Nicky Neville received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Eric Neville tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Scarborough fully deserved thier win.
