Philip Sherwood might have been able to make a better finish in the 2nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joel Carter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Philip Sherwood ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind London City's goalkeeper Joel Carter, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 8th minute, Nicky Neville ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joel Carter was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Gareth Featherson hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Duncan Winter, 15 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Joel Carter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicky Neville in the 18th minute of play. If Johnathan Kelly had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Johnathan Kelly fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Louie Broom having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Ronny Brewer's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Louie Broom was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. In the 25th minute Philip Sherwood shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Carter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Philip Sherwood in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joel Carter prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Joel Carter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Philip Sherwood in the 29th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicky Neville in the 30th minute of play forced London City's goalkeeper Joel Carter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Philip Sherwood managed to get in a good position for a shot. Scarborough's supporters rose to their feet, but Philip Sherwood was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joel Carter breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 42nd minute, Nicky Neville got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 42nd minute, Adrian Gregory hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Albert Bond shot the penalty kick right outside the post. The supporters of London City booed when Scarborough was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albert Bond was slow to take the kick. During this time London City's players had a chance to rest. When Philip Sherwood fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Scarborough's protests and gave Philip Sherwood a yellow card for diving instead. In the 49th minute, Philip Sherwood hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Albert Bond got free with Louie Broom in the 50th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

In the 57th minute, Adrian Gregory hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. London City's Albert Bond couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 57th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Scarborough. London City's Joel Carter proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save London City from getting a goal against them. Albert Bond succeeded in the game's 63rd minute to get real power on a long shot . Scarborough's Louie Broom hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 1-1! In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind London City's goalkeeper Joel Carter, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 74 minutes into the match, London City's goal looked a bit too open when Nicky Neville came free, but Joel Carter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Nicky Neville's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joel Carter was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. Nicky Neville sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 80th minute, Scarborough's Philip Sherwood ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Joel Carter. Joel Carter yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Joel Carter made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Philip Sherwood sent off a good shot on target. Joel Carter was a little too slow when Nicky Neville got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 84th minute. The score was now 1-3. After a rather tough play, London City's Albert Bond got a free kick in the 88th minute. If Philip Sherwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 95 played minutes London City got a freekick which was hit by Gareth Featherson. With a little luck, London City's Joel Carter got control of the ball when Philip Sherwood tried to sneak it across the goal line. Scarborough's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
