The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Frankie Collins got the match started through his kick off. In the 5th minute, Alex Auckland got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Philip Sherwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frankie Collinss short, quick shot in the 11thth minute got Louie Broom to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a defensive mix-up in Scarborough's zone, Vince Ryder stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Louie Broom came out of the goal and Vince Ryder tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 16 minutes into the game, Scarborough's Nicky Neville nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Barry Beevers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The audience was convinced that Nicky Neville's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Barry Beevers was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Frankie Collins who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Louie Broom when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The nice shot from Frankie Collins in the 29thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Louie Broom had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Frankie Collins in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Louie Broom prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Philip Sherwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barry Beevers having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Frankie Collins's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Louie Broom was relentless in the 79th minute of the game.
