The Bar
Spectators: 7617 (Terracing: 5742,
Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Graham Little started the match with the kick off. With an all-out effort, Boozeon First's Kirk McCormick threw himself towards the right post 8 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Shane Stayton, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Kirk McCormick showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abraham Blackwell in the 9th minute of the match. If Shane Stayton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeremy Nightingale came free with the goalkeeper in the 19th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Kirk McCormick could save by the left post. Perry Burgess scored 1-1 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Verne Parkinson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Andrew Clare in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Verne Parkinson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Boozeon First's Verne Parkinson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Graham Little in the 26th minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, Dolton City's goalkeeper Kirk McCormick had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jeremy Nightingale. Shane Stayton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Kirk McCormick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kirk McCormick was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Shane Stayton showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 34 minute of play. Kirk McCormick showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Giles Bilham in the 41st minute of the match. After 43 minutes of play, Boozeon First's Jeremy Nightingale made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kirk McCormick was left in no man's land by his defense there! Kirk McCormick showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shane Stayton, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Shane Stayton to make the kick off. Verne Parkinson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Graham Little in the 54th minute of play. When Boozeon First's Shane Stayton in the 57th minute got a chance for a shot 57th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Dolton City's goalie prevented a goal. Kirk McCormick made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeremy Nightingale in the 64th minute of play. In the 65th match minute, Dolton City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jamie Gibbs to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Dolton City booed when Boozeon First was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rich Botham didn't get a good kick on the ball. Boozeon First's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Graham Little 69 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 3-2. In the 73rdth minute of the game Graham Little who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Boozeon First's Verne Parkinson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Perry Burgess had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeremy Nightingale got in the 83rd a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Kirk McCormick handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Jeremy Nightingale took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kirk McCormick. Kirk McCormick dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. Andrew Clare's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Verne Parkinson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. In the 93rd minute, Jeremy Nightingale ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kirk McCormick was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shane Stayton in the 98th minute of play forced Dolton City's goalkeeper Kirk McCormick to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee ended the match the Boozeon First players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
