The Clarets's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lambeth FC the free kick. Hugh Byrom hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Vic Wicks could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Shane Verity made a huge save. Shane Verity stood somewhat misplaced when Vic Wicks came free in front of goal and shot 1-1 to the left of him in the 11 minute. The supporters of Lambeth FC booed when The Clarets was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lloyd Payne didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vic Wicks got free with Shane Verity in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lloyd Payne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edward Pearson having to interfere. Lambeth FC were furious when Robin Ashford was red carded, 22 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee gave The Clarets a penalty, 24 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Stevie Barltrop, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Lambeth FC's Edward Pearson. 1-2. Edward Pearson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Garth Trotter in the 27th minute of play. Fitz Davey hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Lambeth FC defense, Bart Impey kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edward Pearson. The Lambeth FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edward Pearson should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 39 minutes, Ethan Airton put it in 2-3 from a short distance just to the right of Shane Verity. After a rather tough play, The Clarets's Toby Slater got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Shane Verity showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vic Wicks, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. In the 44th minute Bart Impey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edward Pearson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fitz Davey took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 46th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Edward Pearson. Lambeth FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Disappointed in the 2-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Toby Slater made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in The Clarets's zone, Ethan Airton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Shane Verity came out of the goal and Ethan Airton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Vic Wicks put it in 3-3 from a short distance just to the right of Shane Verity. The audience was convinced that Vic Wicks's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Shane Verity was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in The Clarets's zone, Freddie Dryden stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Shane Verity came out of the goal and Freddie Dryden tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ethan Airton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shane Verity having to interfere. If Crispin Boyd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute, Freddie Dryden left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lambeth FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-3. In the 72nd minute of the match, Lloyd Payne got a very nice opportunity to score, but Edward Pearson was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Vic Wicks got in the 74th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Shane Verity handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. A collision led to The Clarets getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Garth Trotter hit a great ball. If Vic Wicks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. Shane Verity tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jim Cummins took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 89th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Shane Verity. The Clarets's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. During the 91st minute of the match Hugh Byrom completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Hugh Byrom a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Hugh Byrom kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match.
