Spectators: 7500 (Terracing: 5625, Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Rory Pilgrim started the match with the kick off. After a rather tough play, FC Royal Brigade's Gareth Ashton got a free kick in the 16th minute. If Rory Pilgrim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 20 minutes into the match, FC Royal Brigade's goal looked a bit too open when Steve Higginson came free, but Giles Breckin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gareth Ashton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rory Pilgrim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giles Breckin having to interfere. 34 minutes into the match, Coventry United's Steve Higginson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Giles Breckin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 39th minute, Steve Higginson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. FC Royal Brigade's Giles Breckin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Steve Higginson in the 41st minute of play. Toby Pickering hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Calum Mudd sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lance Townsend could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 48th minute of the match, but Dean Toovey made a huge save. After the first half Coventry United were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Calum Mudd made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Lance Townsend shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dean Toovey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Calum Mudd's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dean Toovey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Toby Pickering received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Giles Breckin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Steve Higginsons short, quick shot in the 62ndth minute got Giles Breckin to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Calum Mudd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Giles Breckin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rory Pilgrim in the 66th minute of play. Giles Breckin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rory Pilgrim, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Giles Breckin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rory Pilgrim's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. Giles Breckin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Steve Higginson in the 71st minute. Steve Higginson made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 73rdth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Giles Breckin would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Calum Mudd in the 75th minute of play forced Coventry United's goalkeeper Dean Toovey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Calum Mudd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Dean Toovey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rick Parrott kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Steve Higginson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Giles Breckin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. Rory Pilgrim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Coventry United's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
