After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Denzil Fenwick managed to get in a good position for a shot. congelton saints's supporters rose to their feet, but Denzil Fenwick was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Romeo Bullard breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 27 minutes of play, congelton saints's Denzil Fenwick made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Romeo Bullard was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 29th minute, Syd Haugue got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, Glen Horner took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Jay Shaw to make any attempt to save it. The audience was convinced that Syd Haugue's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Romeo Bullard was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ralph Henry during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 40 played minutes, congelton saints's Jude Burnett shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Romeo Bullard came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in congelton saints reached it. In the 42nd minute Denzil Fenwick shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeo Bullard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Romeo Bullard showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Syd Haugue, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. In the 46th minute Denzil Fenwick shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeo Bullard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Glen Horner came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Crystal Palace City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Glen Horner couldn't finish the play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Glen Horner made the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, Glen Horner got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Denzil Fenwick recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Syd Haugue fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeo Bullard having to interfere. Denzil Fenwick could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Romeo Bullard made a huge save. A hard shot 73 in the game by Denzil Fenwick from a close distance when the talented Romeo Bullard managed to make a qualified save. Crystal Palace City's players were relieved. In the 79th minute of the match congelton saints got a corner. Crystal Palace City's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jude Burnett ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led congelton saints's Andy Deacon to fire away a dangerous shot which Romeo Bullard despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Michael Edmonton's late challenge caught a Crystal Palace City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Michael Edmonton helped the player get up and apologised. Jay Shaw showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Glen Horner, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. congelton saints's Syd Haugue got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Denzil Fenwick came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the congelton saints fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Denzil Fenwick couldn't finish the play. 92 minutes into the game, one of Crystal Palace City:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The Crystal Palace City fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. congelton saints were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
