The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ralph Corbett in the 23rd minute of play forced Lytham City's goalkeeper Connor Wendon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute Eddie Foster shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Connor Wendon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Glyn Munday during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Lytham City's Connor Wendon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rio Fearns in the 36th minute of play. After having played for 39 minutes, Rio Fearns managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. liverpool22's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rio Fearns was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 41 minutes into the match, Eddie Foster notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Lytham City's Connor Wendon. Connor Wendon was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Eddie Foster had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Lytham City's Terry Soussan got a free kick in the 46th minute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eddie Foster to strike the kick off in the second half. Theo Bamford hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Junior Hackney ran back to his position shaking his head. Rio Fearns sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When liverpool22's Rio Fearns in the 73rd minute got a chance for a shot 73rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Ralph Corbett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Connor Wendon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ralph Corbett's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Connor Wendon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Eddie Foster fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Connor Wendon having to interfere. Connor Wendon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rio Fearns in the 92nd minute. liverpool22 played a much better game than Lytham City and deserved their victory. The Lytham City players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
