The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bob Milner during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 21 minutes, Stuart Tandy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Princess FC and the Hilperton United players grew even worse after the yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kristian Best got free with George Cheswick in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. George Cheswick made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Kristian Best sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Princess FC's Rob Sheppard got a free kick in the 35th minute. Glen Callery might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sly Duckworth. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Glen Callery ran back to his position shaking his head. If Tommy Brooks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
