The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lance Lambourne recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Shane Henwood received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Simon Bilton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind London Colney's goalkeeper Brian Greenfield, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Lance Lambourne received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Brian Greenfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 24 minutes into the match, Harry Everard notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Rapid Bucharest's Simon Bilton. Simon Bilton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Guy Philips sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Kristian Beerman charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kristian Beerman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Kristian Beerman kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 36thth minute of the game Guy Philips who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rapid Bucharest's Simon Bilton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 39th minute, Lance Lambourne ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Brian Greenfield was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1.

The wind increased when Dominik Foggarty made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Rapid Bucharest getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Victor Hallam hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Shane Henwood managed to get in a good position for a shot. London Colney's supporters rose to their feet, but Shane Henwood was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Simon Bilton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dominik Foggarty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Lance Lambourne struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Brian Greenfield didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rapid Bucharest. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dominik Foggarty in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Brian Greenfield saved London Colney from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lance Lambourne got free with Brian Greenfield in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 66 minutes into the game, Dominik Foggarty was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rapid Bucharest's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave London Colney the free kick. The supporters of London Colney booed when Rapid Bucharest was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dominik Foggarty didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Lance Lambourne came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Rapid Bucharest fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lance Lambourne couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Dominik Foggarty's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Brian Greenfield was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. Mick Dransfield's late challenge caught a Rapid Bucharest's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. One of London Colney:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Rapid Bucharest:s goal.
