A collision led to spurs city getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Sean Maston hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Heybridge Basin United defense, Marty Blackburn kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Simon Haigh. The Heybridge Basin United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Simon Haigh should have stopped the shot. Kasey Potter scored 2-0 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Simon Haigh, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Dale Peakman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Simon Haigh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kasey Potter in the 27th minute of play. With 29 minutes on the clock, Danny Vaughan commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 28th minute, one of Heybridge Basin United:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Heybridge Basin United. The goalkeeper, Simon Haigh, was totally fooled by spurs city's Stuart Clark, who 31 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 33rd minute, Sean Maston hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Chris Burley kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Simon Haigh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kasey Potter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Heybridge Basin United's Simon Haigh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kasey Potter in the 39th minute of play. With a little luck, Heybridge Basin United's Simon Haigh got control of the ball when Marty Blackburn tried to sneak it across the goal line.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kasey Potter was the one to do the kick off. Heybridge Basin United's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 53rd minute, Byron Cotton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dale Peakman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ross Westlake having to interfere. Simon Haigh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kasey Potter in the 60th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 70 minutes, Dale Peakman put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Ross Westlake. Dale Peakman succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 3-2 in the 78th playminute. After a defensive mix-up in spurs city's zone, Dale Peakman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ross Westlake came out of the goal and Dale Peakman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. spurs city were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Heybridge Basin United for a fine match.
