In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Manchester City's goalkeeper Stewart Hepburn, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 12 minutes of play, Titchfield's Harry Collins made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Stewart Hepburn was left in no man's land by his defense there! Stew Osborn who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 16thth minute tested the skills of Denzil Pullen when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Calvin Wakefield in the 19th minute of play forced Titchfield's goalkeeper Denzil Pullen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Timothy Vickers in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Stewart Hepburn prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Manchester City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Stewart Hepburn should have stopped the shot. 33 minutes into the game, Harry Collins cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Stewart Hepburn was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Timothy Vickers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Stewart Hepburn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 1-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
