After a rather tough play, Shaftsbury's Thomas Bakewell got a free kick in the 18th minute. Rod Sills stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Brett Ferdinand's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Brett Ferdinand scored 2-1 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rod Sills, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gus Preece might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alastair Norfolk. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gus Preece ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Gus Preece managed to get in a good position for a shot. Shaftsbury's supporters rose to their feet, but Gus Preece was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alastair Norfolk breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bishops Castle's Alastair Norfolk proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Bishops Castle from getting a goal against them. Huey Meadowcroft sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Huey Meadowcroft to make the kick off. Shaftsbury's Gus Preece got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Shaftsbury's Rod Sills played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brett Ferdinand in the 81st minute of play. Alastair Norfolk stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gus Preece's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. Gus Preece sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 88thth minute of the game Gus Preece who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bishops Castle's Alastair Norfolk was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 91st minute, Gus Preece got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gus Preece recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the referee ended the match the Shaftsbury players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
