The supporters of Shaftsbury booed when Seer Green was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pete Moorhouse didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Rob McGrath had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rob McGrath sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Allan Marshall might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rod Sills. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Allan Marshall ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 19 minutes, Allan Marshall managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Seer Green's supporters crossed their fingers, but Allan Marshall was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 20thth minute of the game Allan Marshall who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Shaftsbury's Rod Sills was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Thomas Bakewell during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Allan Marshall in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rod Sills saved Shaftsbury from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Gus Preece managed to get in a good position for a shot. Shaftsbury's supporters rose to their feet, but Gus Preece was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jon Black breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 45 minutes, Rob McGrath managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Shaftsbury's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rob McGrath was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Martyn Canning kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gus Preece in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jon Black prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Steven Ackland received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Rod Sills tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Shaftsbury's Rod Sills played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Steven Ackland in the 62nd minute of play. In the 68th minute, Leo Folan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Shaftsbury fans' excitement grew in the 69th match minute when Shaftsbury's Gus Preece looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Gus Preece took the ball and in the 73 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jon Black. Jon Black dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Gus Preece fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jon Black having to interfere. In the 80th minute, Tris Croxford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Steven Ackland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84th minute Allan Marshall shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rod Sills saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th minute, Allan Marshall left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Seer Green fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. 88 minutes into the match, Shaftsbury's goal looked a bit too open when Allan Marshall came free, but Rod Sills reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
