Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Cleobury Mortimer's Austin Hopkinson started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dean Titmus showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Peter Pitts in the 6th minute of the match. John Drysdale hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Prescot's zone, Ivor Coton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dean Titmus came out of the goal and Ivor Coton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Peter Pitts came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Cleobury Mortimer fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Peter Pitts couldn't finish the play. Micheal Gilroy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nathan Goldsmith sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Vinnie Selby fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Prescot's protests and gave Vinnie Selby a yellow card for diving instead. Ivor Coton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Dean Titmus tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Peter Pitts managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cleobury Mortimer's supporters rose to their feet, but Peter Pitts was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dean Titmus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 24 played minutes John Drysdale rounded Cleobury Mortimer's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. Cleobury Mortimer's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Austin Hopkinson in the 29th minute. In the 35th minute of the match Rodd Hunter shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Peter Nicoll showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Prescot's Dean Titmus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Austin Hopkinson in the 36th minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, Micheal Gilroy notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Prescot's Dean Titmus. Dean Titmus was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ivor Coton blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dean Titmus having to make a save. After 46 minutes, John Drysdale mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Prescot and the Cleobury Mortimer players grew even worse after the yellow card. John Drysdale hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Ivor Coton managed to get in a good position for a shot. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kieran Cahill was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st match minute, Prescot was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kieran Cahill to maneuver through the defense. Peter Pitts's late challenge caught a Prescot's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Peter Pitts helped the player get up and apologised. Peter Pitts hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Peter Nicoll took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kieran Cahill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Peter Pitts got free with Dean Titmus in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 61st minute Vinnie Selby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Nicoll saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivor Coton in the 62nd minute of play forced Prescot's goalkeeper Dean Titmus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 63 played minutes Prescot got a freekick which was hit by John Drysdale. Austin Hopkinson's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 66thth minute, Dean Titmus skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Micheal Gilroy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ivor Coton was extremely unlucky when he, in the 86th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Peter Pitts struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Dean Titmus didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cleobury Mortimer. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivor Coton in the 94th minute of play forced Prescot's goalkeeper Dean Titmus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cleobury Mortimer were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
