Spectators: 7486 (Terracing: 5615, Seating: 1722, VIP seats: 149) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Theo Marriott made the kick off which started today's match. Devon Warrender showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simon Woodcock in the 3rd minute of the match. In the 4th minute Marek Wellings shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Devon Warrender saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sol Shephard struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Devon Warrender didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gateshead. A hard shot by Stewart Childs from long distance, 9 minutes into the match, got Eddie Keane's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 9th minute, Vance Hunter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nath Storry sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Wanlip Knights defense, Sonny Hanson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Devon Warrender. The Wanlip Knights fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Devon Warrender should have stopped the shot. Simon Woodcock charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Simon Woodcock the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Gateshead's Simon Woodcock got a free kick in the 24th minute. Eddie Keane made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Theo Marriott in the 28th minute of play. Theo Marriott recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nath Storry took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Devon Warrender. Devon Warrender dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 38thth minute of the game Sonny Hanson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Wanlip Knights's Devon Warrender was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 42nd minute of the match Vance Hunter sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Devon Warrender skillfully saved the ball. Sonny Hanson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Devon Warrender having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nath Storry was the one to do the kick off. Sonny Hanson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Devon Warrender read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Devon Warrender made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Sonny Hanson sent off a good shot on target. Sonny Hanson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Devon Warrender having to interfere. If Sonny Hanson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 64 minutes into the game, Nath Storry recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Devon Warrender. Nath Storry showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. With a little luck, Wanlip Knights's Devon Warrender got control of the ball when Sonny Hanson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lance Marston hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Nath Storry managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gateshead's supporters rose to their feet, but Nath Storry was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Devon Warrender breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Stewart Childs kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Ty Hughes-Guy might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Devon Warrender. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ty Hughes-Guy ran back to his position shaking his head. Devon Warrender made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nath Storry in the 78th minute of play. Nath Storry's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Devon Warrender read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. Sonny Hanson in the 84thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Devon Warrender, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 85 minutes, Lance Marston mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wanlip Knights and the Gateshead players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Wanlip Knights's Lance Marston got a free kick in the 85th minute. In a very dangerous position, a player in Wanlip Knights fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 86th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 87 minutes, Gateshead's Ty Hughes-Guy got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Devon Warrender. After having played for 95 minutes, Sonny Hanson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gateshead's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sonny Hanson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gateshead played a much better game than Wanlip Knights and deserved their victory. The Wanlip Knights players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
