Bootle United's Rhys Brearley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Garry Blake in the 40th minute of play. Garry Blake received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Rhys Brearley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rhys Brearley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phil Rotherfield in the 44th minute of play. Bootle United's Sam Barrett got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Sandbach FC's Dan Kalischer got a free kick in the 48th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sam Barrett stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Garry Blake came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Sandbach FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Garry Blake couldn't finish the play. Sandbach FC's Barrie Boatman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sam Barrett in the 64th minute of play. Barrie Boatman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sam Barrett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Sandbach FC defense, Sam Barrett kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Barrie Boatman. The Sandbach FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Barrie Boatman should have stopped the shot. 74 minutes into the match, Garry Blake notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Bootle United's Rhys Brearley. Rhys Brearley was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Sandbach FC's Phil Rotherfield got a free kick in the 79th minute. In the 80th minute of the match John Renner shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Barrie Boatman showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 86 minutes into the game, Eddie Nelson recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rhys Brearley. Eddie Nelson showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-3. Rhys Brearley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eddie Nelson, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Rhys Brearley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eddie Nelson in the 96th minute of play. 100 minutes into the match, Sandbach FC's Garry Blake sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rhys Brearley narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Bootle United supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Sandbach FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Sandbach FC.
