Kevin Jewson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Laurence Short tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Howard Tyrell hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. A collision led to Branscombe FC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Thomas Homes hit a great ball. Kevin Jewson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Thomas Homes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Branscombe FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Thomas Homes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Brian Cordingley breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Darren Vaughn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jeremy Holdsworth might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Laurence Short. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jeremy Holdsworth ran back to his position shaking his head. Kevin Jewson struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Laurence Short didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Everton FC. Jeremy Holdsworth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laurence Short having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kevin Jewson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jeremy Holdsworth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Laurence Short tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Laurence Short made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Jewson in the 53rd minute of play. Thomas Homes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kevin Jewson in the 66th minute of play forced Branscombe FC's goalkeeper Laurence Short to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Branscombe FC defense, Kevin Jewson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Laurence Short. The Branscombe FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Laurence Short should have stopped the shot. Kevin Jewson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Darren Vaughn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 78 minutes into the match, Branscombe FC's goal looked a bit too open when Kevin Jewson came free, but Laurence Short reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 81st minute Kevin Jewson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laurence Short saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thomas Homes kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Everton FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
