After 7 played minutes, They Think Its Moldova's Ozzy Riley shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Brendon Prior came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in They Think Its Moldova reached it. Verne Riad blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Brendon Prior having to make a save. Rowan Connor took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 9th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Brendon Prior. Alton's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With a little luck, They Think Its Moldova's Stewart Price got control of the ball when Grant Blackwell tried to sneak it across the goal line. They Think Its Moldova's Stewart Price played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henry Simpson in the 15th minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, Verne Riad had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Brendon Prior. Alton's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Verne Riad was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Grant Blackwell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stewart Price having to interfere. Stewart Price made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bob Richardson in the 32nd minute. Brendon Prior made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Verne Riad in the 33rd minute of play. Verne Riad blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Brendon Prior having to make a save. Brendon Prior showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chaz Harkness, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Alton's Brendon Prior played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Verne Riad in the 47th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Henry Simpson made the kick off in the second half. Simon Winterbottom received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Brendon Prior tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 57th minute, Verne Riad left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The They Think Its Moldova fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. 62 minutes into the match, They Think Its Moldova's goal looked a bit too open when Henry Simpson came free, but Stewart Price reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Verne Riad sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Verne Riad had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Alton's Brendon Prior played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chaz Harkness in the 77th minute of play. Verne Riad fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brendon Prior having to interfere. Chaz Harkness sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Simon Fox came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the They Think Its Moldova fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Simon Fox couldn't finish the play. Grant Blackwell recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Alton fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. They Think Its Moldova were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
