When the match had been going on for 8 minutes, Holy Smoke's Ruben Nevin got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Trev Hellen. In the 11th match minute, Holy Smoke was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dylon Barton to maneuver through the defense. Jack Cheeseman did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Trev Hellen 15 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute Jack Cheeseman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trev Hellen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Trev Hellen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tommy Baldwin in the 23rd minute. With a little luck, Ludlow's Trev Hellen got control of the ball when Tommy Baldwin tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Ludlow's Louie Reid got a free kick in the 27th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tommy Baldwin in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Trev Hellen saved Ludlow from getting behind. In the 29th match minute, Ludlow was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marty Hodges to maneuver through the defense. Jeremy Hardy hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. 31 minutes into the match, Tommy Baldwin dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Trev Hellen, 3-0. A collision led to Ludlow getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Jeremy Hardy hit a great ball. Jack Cheeseman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trev Hellen having to interfere. 38 minutes into the match, Ludlow's goal looked a bit too open when Tommy Baldwin came free, but Trev Hellen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Trev Hellen had great luck who in the 38thth minute grab hold of the ball when Tommy Baldwin from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. The supporters of Holy Smoke booed when Ludlow was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marty Hodges didn't get a good kick on the ball. Trev Hellen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bryan Birch in the 40th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Ludlow's Jeremy Hardy got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Trev Hellen made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Tommy Baldwin sent off a good shot on target. Trev Hellen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jack Cheeseman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marty Hodges to make the kick off. After 52 played minutes Ludlow got a freekick which was hit by Louie Reid. Ruben Nevin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to Ludlow getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Jeremy Hardy hit a great ball. Jack Cheeseman scored 4-0 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Trev Hellen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tommy Baldwin in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Trev Hellen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the Ludlow defense, Tommy Baldwin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Trev Hellen. The Ludlow fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Trev Hellen should have stopped the shot. In the 68th minute, Jeremy Hardy reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Joe Story-Moore. The goal made the score 5-1. 72 minutes into the match, Ludlow's goal looked a bit too open when Jack Cheeseman came free, but Trev Hellen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 81 minutes of play, Holy Smoke's Jack Cheeseman made it 6-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Trev Hellen was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tommy Baldwin in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Trev Hellen saved Ludlow from getting behind. 89 minutes into the match, Ludlow's goal looked a bit too open when Bryan Birch came free, but Trev Hellen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
