Spectators: 7504 (Terracing: 5629, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 149) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. John Harrington started the match with the kick off. In the 2nd minute, Alf Ricketts hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 18 minutes of play, Woolwich City's Tommy Bland made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vinnie Neville was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 26th minute, Boscombe's Giles Willetts dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. If Tommy Bland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Malcolm Bowler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John Harrington, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. John Harrington's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Malcolm Bowler read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tommy Bland to make the kick off. John Harrington fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Malcolm Bowler having to interfere. After 59 played minutes Woolwich City got a freekick which was hit by Lance Earnshaw. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Giles Willetts managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boscombe's supporters rose to their feet, but Giles Willetts was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Malcolm Bowler breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 71st minute John Harrington shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Malcolm Bowler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Woolwich City were furious when Alf Ricketts was red carded, 76 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 79th minute there was a penalty for Boscombe. Zak Harrington stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Malcolm Bowler. 3-1. Malcolm Bowler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from John Harrington in the 94th minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Boscombe had played much better football throughout.
