Antony Beswetherick came out of the goal and Hugh Farrow tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Harvey Batty came free with the goalkeeper in the 9th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Quentin Rowling could save by the left post. After 11 played minutes Hugh FC got a freekick which was hit by Stevie McNiven. It was beautiful to see Wirral Blues's Johnnie Kearney in action when he in the 13th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Quentin Rowling took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andre Wakefield, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Hugh FC's Lance Bancroft got a free kick in the 15th minute. Hugh FC's Lance Bancroft got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hayden Leslie struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Antony Beswetherick didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hugh FC. If Hugh Farrow had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 33rd minute, Hayden Leslie ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Antony Beswetherick was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. If Francis Byfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Harvey Batty's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Quentin Rowling firmly grabbed it by the left post. The wind increased when Andre Wakefield made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Hugh FC's Andre Ring got a free kick in the 51st minute. After 62 minutes of play, Hugh FC's Hayden Leslie made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Antony Beswetherick was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 66th minute of the match Stevie McNiven sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Antony Beswetherick skillfully saved the ball. In the 68th minute Andre Wakefield shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Quentin Rowling saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Hugh FC's Hugh Farrow in the 73rd minute got a chance for a shot 73rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Wirral Blues's goalie prevented a goal. Sean Gunn made in the 85th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Hugh FC's Hayden Leslie. 86 minutes into the match, Hayden Leslie had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Antony Beswetherick. Wirral Blues's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hayden Leslie was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. 88 minutes into the game, Lance Bancroft was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hugh FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wirral Blues the free kick. After 89 played minutes Hugh FC got a freekick which was hit by Lance Bancroft. Hugh FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
