Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Stevie McNiven didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 8th minute, Junior Cryan sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Hugh FC's Quentin Rowling didn't even have to move. Quentin Rowling took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mick Garnett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 11th match minute, Hugh FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lance Bancroft to maneuver through the defense. Quentin Rowling made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mick Garnett in the 18th minute of play. Hayden Leslie struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Jacob Gibson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hugh FC. Hugh FC's Quentin Rowling played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paddy Furlong in the 20th minute of play. After 31 minutes, Isaac Clayton mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hugh FC and the Saint Denis FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 32nd minute, Isaac Clayton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Quentin Rowling made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Tris Featherson sent off a good shot on target. Quentin Rowling took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mick Garnett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 46th minute, Mick Garnett reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Quentin Rowling. The goal made the score 1-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mick Garnett made a kick off. Jack Knight-Percival hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Saint Denis FC's Junior Cryan couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 57th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Hugh FC. Tris Featherson scored 2-0 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Quentin Rowling, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Hugh Farrow received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Jacob Gibson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Quentin Rowling showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paddy Furlong, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. If Hugh Farrow had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
