Lennie Peakman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gillingham Town fc's Stewart Downes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Gillingham Town fc from getting a goal against them. Lennie Peakman kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Mason FC's zone, Sammy Tanner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pierce Meehan came out of the goal and Sammy Tanner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sammy Tanner could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Pierce Meehan made a huge save. If Shaun Sparks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Larry Chilton hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. In the 72nd minute, Larry Chilton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stewart Downes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Perry Barker in the 74th minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Gillingham Town fc players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense.
