Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Marty Edworthy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tod Rushforth, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Drew Thomas got free with Marty Edworthy in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 9 minutes into the game, Jonathon North was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Deptford's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sudbury the free kick. In the 9th minute, Jonathon North hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marty Edworthy made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Drew Thomas sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tod Rushforth in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marty Edworthy saved Sudbury from getting behind. Drew Thomas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Marty Edworthy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tod Rushforth might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marty Edworthy. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tod Rushforth ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rick Swift during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 24 played minutes Sudbury got a freekick which was hit by Rick Swift. Jonathon North was shown his second yellow card after 27 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 27th minute, Jonathon North hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Deptford's goalkeeper Andre Forrest, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Drew Thomas got free with Marty Edworthy in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 35 minutes into the match, Sudbury's goalkeeper Marty Edworthy had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rupert Armitstead. Kris Bourton hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Marty Edworthy was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Drew Thomas showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 38 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Sudbury's zone, Rupert Armitstead stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marty Edworthy came out of the goal and Rupert Armitstead tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Drew Thomas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After 66 minutes, Guy Griggs mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sudbury and the Deptford players grew even worse after the yellow card. Drew Thomas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marty Edworthy having to interfere. When Rick Swift came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Sudbury fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rick Swift couldn't finish the play. Drew Thomas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Rick Swift came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Sudbury fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rick Swift couldn't finish the play. Guy Griggs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andre Forrest made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brad Branson in the 93rd minute of play. Drew Thomas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marty Edworthy having to interfere. There was no doubt that Deptford were the better team. Deptford's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
