Spectators: 7433 (Terracing: 5651, Seating: 1732, VIP seats: 50) Ferndown Foxes FC's Loyd Scrivener started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dean Tabb made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerry Shields in the 3rd minute of play. After 4 played minutes Ferndown Foxes FC got a freekick which was hit by Leroy Percival. Dean Tabb was a little too slow when Gerry Shields got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 10th minute. The score was now 1-0. Gerry Shields received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dean Tabb came out and tried to block the shot, but Gerry Shields slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 18th minute. Tod Burgess hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Norman Dines managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ferndown Foxes FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Norman Dines was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leon Goldsmith breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Loyd Scrivener scored 2-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Leon Goldsmith, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 34 minutes into the match, Tranmere Raiders's goal looked a bit too open when Loyd Scrivener came free, but Leon Goldsmith reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Leroy Percival had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Laurence Hill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leon Goldsmith having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Tranmere Raiders's zone, Loyd Scrivener stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leon Goldsmith came out of the goal and Loyd Scrivener tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ferndown Foxes FC were furious when Laurence Hill was red carded, 42 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The supporters of Tranmere Raiders booed when Ferndown Foxes FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laurence Hill didn't get a good kick on the ball. Loyd Scrivener kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. In the 47th minute Sean Turner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dean Tabb saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Dean Tabb showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gerry Shields, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. If Norman Dines had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 58 played minutes Tranmere Raiders got a freekick which was hit by Jermaine Ratcliffe. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alf Fawell in the 61st minute of play forced Ferndown Foxes FC's goalkeeper Dean Tabb to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dean Tabb showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sean Turner, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. 66 minutes into the match, Tranmere Raiders's goalkeeper Leon Goldsmith had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Loyd Scrivener. Ferndown Foxes FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Loyd Scrivener in the 67th minute. After some careless play in the Ferndown Foxes FC defense, Sean Turner kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dean Tabb. The Ferndown Foxes FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dean Tabb should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sean Turner in the 74th minute of play forced Ferndown Foxes FC's goalkeeper Dean Tabb to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Loyd Scrivener had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Norman Dines kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Dean Tabb showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sean Turner in the 83rd minute of the match. Leroy Percival blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Leon Goldsmith having to make a save. Loyd Scrivener recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sean Turner scored 4-1 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dean Tabb, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the referee blew the final whistle, Tranmere Raiders could leave the field as winners, despite Ferndown Foxes FC having more of the ball for most of the match.
