Leon Goldsmith showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tod Rushforth, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Deptford's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ged Archer in the 17th minute. The corner ended in Ged Archer almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Tranmere Raiders's Leon Goldsmith did a great save. In the 19th minute, Sean Turner made a precise shot to the right of Andre Forrest. Deptford's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After a rather tough play, Deptford's Niall Naylor got a free kick in the 23rd minute. In the 30th minute, Sammy Banks hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ash Hatcher fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leon Goldsmith having to interfere. After 38 played minutes Tranmere Raiders got a freekick which was hit by Tod Burgess. Drew Thomas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tod Burgess was shown his second yellow card after 41 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Tranmere Raiders's Tod Burgess got a free kick in the 42nd minute. If Drew Thomas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sean Turner made a kick off. With a little luck, Tranmere Raiders's Leon Goldsmith got control of the ball when Drew Thomas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Drew Thomas struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Leon Goldsmith didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Deptford. Tod Rushforth showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ged Archer during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ged Archer kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. Deptford's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
