Dean Harkness fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marty Edworthy having to interfere. 26 minutes into the match, Buckfast Abbey City's Garry Bartram sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marty Edworthy narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dean Harkness received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Marty Edworthy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Buckfast Abbey City's zone, Rick Swift stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alfie Boulton came out of the goal and Rick Swift tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 32 minutes into the match, Brad Branson notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Buckfast Abbey City's Alfie Boulton. Alfie Boulton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sudbury's Marty Edworthy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Garry Bartram in the 37th minute of play. In the 38th minute, Brad Branson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 46 minutes, Garry Bartram managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Buckfast Abbey City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Garry Bartram was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Garry Bartram sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Brad Branson was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Buckfast Abbey City's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Brad Branson fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 55thth minute of the game Brad Branson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Buckfast Abbey City's Alfie Boulton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Rick Swift ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 83rd minute, Rick Swift made a precise shot to the right of Alfie Boulton. Buckfast Abbey City's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. Alfie Boulton made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Guy Griggs sent off a good shot on target. Nigel Waterhouse hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. The Sudbury supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sudbury would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
