In the 15th minute, Jamie Heath made a precise shot to the right of Geoff Furlong. Hexham Town F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Hexham Town F.C.'s Geoff Furlong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Camron Bow in the 19th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Rueben Tompkins managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hexham Town F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Rueben Tompkins was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Keith Clifford breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hexham Town F.C.'s Matty Letheren got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When Billy Milburn fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hexham Town F.C.'s protests and gave Billy Milburn a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Never Exposed booed when Hexham Town F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Billy Milburn didn't get a good kick on the ball. Camron Bow could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Geoff Furlong made a huge save. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Never Exposed walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
