Spectators: 5001 (Terracing: 4001, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Johnathan Preston got the match started through his kick off. Francis Jones fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tristram Bittner having to interfere. 5 minutes into the game, Ivan Litchfield was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Finley FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Swinton AFC the free kick. After 5 played minutes Finley FC got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Litchfield. Ethan Hudson hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. In the 12th minute, Denzil Beadle fired a really elegant long shot, but Fred Wishart threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. Johnathan Preston fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Wishart having to interfere. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Finley FC's goalkeeper Fred Wishart, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Swinton AFC's goalkeeper Tristram Bittner, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Johnathan Preston had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vic Johnson during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Finley FC getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Vic Johnson hit a great ball. An unexpected shot in the 32nd minute by Johnathan Preston got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Finley FC's Den Coe got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tristram Bittner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Den Coe, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Den Coe to strike the kick off in the second half. When Keiran Connor fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Finley FC's protests and gave Keiran Connor a yellow card for diving instead. After 54 played minutes Finley FC got a freekick which was hit by Keiran Connor. In the 55th minute, Denzil Beadle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Finley FC's Fred Wishart played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by George Shakespeare in the 60th minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Francis Jones notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Swinton AFC's Tristram Bittner. Tristram Bittner was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Fred Wishart made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from George Shakespeare in the 67th minute of play. 72 minutes into the match, Swinton AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Den Coe came free, but Tristram Bittner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Francis Jones fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tristram Bittner having to interfere. With a little luck, Swinton AFC's Tristram Bittner got control of the ball when Francis Jones tried to sneak it across the goal line. 80 minutes into the match, Swinton AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Den Coe came free, but Tristram Bittner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tristram Bittner didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Finley FC. In the 92nd minute, Marlon Ambrose hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Finley FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Finley FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
