Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Marek Coogan started the match with the kick off. A collision led to Stoneleigh getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Zane Hargraves hit a great ball. Jacob Thorn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Cousins in the 5th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marek Coogan in the 11th minute of play forced Horsham's goalkeeper Brett Addison to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marek Coogan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Marek Coogan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edward Cousins scored 0-1 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jacob Thorn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Marek Coogan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stoneleigh's supporters rose to their feet, but Marek Coogan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Brett Addison breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match had gone on for 31 minutes, Marek Coogan put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Brett Addison. In the 36th match minute, Stoneleigh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zane Hargraves to maneuver through the defense. In the 37th minute of the match Victor Chadwick sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jacob Thorn skillfully saved the ball. Rich Townson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 40 minutes, Syd Haper managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Horsham's supporters crossed their fingers, but Syd Haper was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jacob Thorn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Syd Haper in the 43rd minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edward Cousins made a kick off. Edward Cousins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacob Thorn having to interfere. Graeme Rocastle hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. In the 59th minute, Stevie Welsh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edward Cousins struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Jacob Thorn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Horsham. After 64 played minutes Horsham got a freekick which was hit by Rich Townson. Brett Addison showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stevie Welsh, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Marek Coogan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brett Addison took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stevie Welsh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jacob Thorn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Cousins in the 77th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Horsham's Rich Townson got a free kick in the 78th minute. Brett Addison came out of the goal in the 82nd minute to try and stop a shot by Stoneleigh's Marek Coogan. But to his dismay, Marek Coogan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Freddie Faith's late challenge caught a Horsham's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Freddie Faith helped the player get up and apologised. 88 minutes into the match, Horsham's goal looked a bit too open when Stevie Welsh came free, but Brett Addison reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Syd Haper's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jacob Thorn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. Brett Addison showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marek Coogan in the 96th minute of the match. Horsham's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
