An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Cousins in the 7th minute of play forced Reading's goalkeeper Tyler Cavanagh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Reading's zone, Edward Cousins stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tyler Cavanagh came out of the goal and Edward Cousins tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Reading defense, Syd Haper kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tyler Cavanagh. The Reading fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tyler Cavanagh should have stopped the shot. Horsham's Edward Cousins got a good chance for a goal in the 99th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Horsham walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
