The referee ordered Pierce Preston off the ground. Pierce Preston hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Adrian Leslie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Freddy Lister made in the 14th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Sonny Brennan however managed to control. Bart Dobson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ozzy Varley, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Bart Dobson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thom Newlyn in the 24th minute of the match. 33 minutes into the match, Codnor's goalkeeper Bart Dobson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adrian Leslie. Codnor's Bart Dobson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thom Newlyn in the 47th minute of play. Jacob Bowen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Bart Dobson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Damian Newlyn to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Everton's Freddy Lister got a free kick in the 65th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacob Bowen in the 73rd minute of play forced Codnor's goalkeeper Bart Dobson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th minute, Codnor's Howard Whitmore ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Lenny Bilham. Lenny Bilham yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. Howard Whitmore received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Lenny Bilham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 88th minute, Howard Whitmore ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lenny Bilham was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Beinn Nelthorpe had a good opportunity to score a goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went on the wrong side of the left post. Damian Newlyn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lenny Bilham having to interfere. Lenny Bilham made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Howard Whitmore in the 96th minute of play. Codnor played a much better game than Everton and deserved their victory. The Everton players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
