Andrew Wilkes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donald Vaughan having to interfere. 21 minutes into the match, Sunder FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mitch Newton came free, but Donald Vaughan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mark Haxby received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Jasper Tully tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 27 minutes into the game, Rod Pilkington was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sunder FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Scofton United the free kick. After a rather tough play, Sunder FC's Rod Pilkington got a free kick in the 27th minute. Donald Vaughan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrew Wilkes, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Gwyn Woodford hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Donald Vaughan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrew Wilkes in the 29th minute of play. The wind increased when Mitch Newton made the kick off in the second half. Mitch Newton was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 54th minute. Scofton United's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zaq Bullard during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Scofton United getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Zaq Bullard hit a great ball. 61 minutes into the match, Sunder FC's Rob Bourton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jasper Tully narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Andrew Wilkes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gwyn Woodford during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After having played for 67 minutes, Mitch Newton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Scofton United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mitch Newton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andrew Wilkes couldn't finish the play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 74th minute of the game. One of Sunder FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Scofton United:s goal. After 83 minutes of play Sunder FC's Gwyn Woodford was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Mitch Newton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donald Vaughan having to interfere. In the 89th minute, Andrew Wilkes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Scofton United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. 93 minutes into the game, one of Sunder FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. If Andrew Wilkes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Donald Vaughan stood somewhat misplaced when Mitch Newton came free in front of goal and shot 1-5 to the left of him in the 99 minute. The Scofton United supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Scofton United would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
