Andrew Childs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicky Castleton in the 5th minute of play. Joshua Simpson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Curtis Mead, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pete Bird hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Curtis Mead during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Hayling Island's Curtis Mead got a free kick in the 14th minute. Joshua Simpson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zackary Hayes in the 16th minute of play. Liam Palmer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Hayling Island's zone, Nicky Castleton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andrew Childs came out of the goal and Nicky Castleton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 21 minutes into the match, Foxton FC's Gordon Lawson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Andrew Childs narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Foxton FC were furious when Dale Appleton was red carded, 23 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 23rd minute of the game. One of Foxton FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Hayling Island:s goal. In the 26th minute there was a penalty for Hayling Island. Jamie Buckler stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Joshua Simpson. 0-1. 34 minutes into the match, Foxton FC's Nicky Castleton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Andrew Childs narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Pete Bird charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pete Bird the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee gave Hayling Island a penalty, 41 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jamie Buckler, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Foxton FC's Joshua Simpson. 1-2. Joshua Simpson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zackary Hayes, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Liam Palmer made a kick off. Nicky Castleton blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Andrew Childs having to make a save. Nicky Castleton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Hayling Island's Eric Woodcock slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Joshua Simpson. That made the score 1-3 after 58 minutes of play. A collision led to Foxton FC getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Gordon Lawson hit a great ball. Foxton FC's Joshua Simpson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Liam Palmer in the 64th minute of play. Liam Palmer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Joshua Simpson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joshua Simpson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eric Woodcock in the 70th minute of the match. If Fitz Pickering had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hayling Island's Eric Woodcock got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Liam Palmer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Joshua Simpson made a huge save. In the 82nd minute, Hayling Island's Zackary Hayes dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-4. Foxton FC's Joshua Simpson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Liam Palmer in the 93rd minute of play. Hayling Island's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
