Kieran Hopker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andrew Childs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Greg Selby in the 38th minute of the match. If Kieran Hopker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd minute Greg Selby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrew Childs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bob Draper received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Andrew Childs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Liam Palmer to make the kick off. If Bob Draper had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 80th minute, Greg Selby made a precise shot to the right of Andrew Childs. Hayling Island's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Hayling Island's Andrew Childs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kieran Hopker in the 83rd minute of play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bob Draper couldn't finish the play. In the 97th match minute, The dragons was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guy Larham to maneuver through the defense. The dragons were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
