Spectators: 7255 (Terracing: 5630, Seating: 1575, VIP seats: 50) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Ross Freeman took the kick off in the first half of the match. Ross Freeman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Andrew Childs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ross Freeman might have been able to make a better finish in the 6th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Andrew Childs. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ross Freeman ran back to his position shaking his head. Sedgewick Collective's Jay Sheldon was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Andrew Childs in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Liam Palmer might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Trey Swain. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Liam Palmer ran back to his position shaking his head. With an all-out effort, Sedgewick Collective's Andrew Childs threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ross Freeman, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a defensive mix-up in Hayling Island's zone, Ross Freeman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andrew Childs came out of the goal and Ross Freeman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 22 played minutes Hayling Island got a freekick which was hit by Eric Woodcock. The long shot by Jay Sheldon in the 23rd minute really tested Andrew Childs's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Andrew Childs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ross Freeman in the 26th minute of the match. Ross Freeman took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Andrew Childs. Andrew Childs dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. After having played for 30 minutes, Ross Freeman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sedgewick Collective's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ross Freeman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 36th minute Liam Palmer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trey Swain saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eric Woodcock sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Liam Palmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Liam Palmer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trey Swain having to interfere. Zackary Hayes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eric Woodcock received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Trey Swain tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Andrew Childs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ross Freeman in the 52nd minute of play. Simon Halliday fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrew Childs having to interfere. If Ross Freeman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Sedgewick Collective booed when Hayling Island was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Piers McKeown didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hayling Island's Andrew Childs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jay Sheldon in the 65th minute of play. When the match clock showed 72 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Simon Halliday sped through Hayling Island's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Andrew Childs. A collision led to Sedgewick Collective getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. John Paul Dransfield hit a great ball. In the 84th minute Liam Palmer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trey Swain saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85th match minute, Sedgewick Collective was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ruben Garforth to maneuver through the defense. If Liam Palmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Trey Swain took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Liam Palmer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Sedgewick Collective's zone, Eric Woodcock stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Trey Swain came out of the goal and Eric Woodcock tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
