Neil Rice showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donald Dobbs, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Donald Dobbs in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Neil Rice prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bury St Eds's Wally Avery played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricky Craven in the 19th minute of play. Jeff Selby's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Neil Rice read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. Jeff Selby received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Neil Rice tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Neil Rice didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bury St Eds. Donald Dobbs could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Neil Rice made a huge save. Donald Dobbs struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Neil Rice didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bury St Eds. Reuben Branson kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. Bury St Eds's Jeff Selby got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Donald Dobbs got free with Neil Rice in the 97th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match was over Bury St Eds could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Penetrators throughout the match.
