Spectators: 7537 (Terracing: 5654, Seating: 1733, VIP seats: 150) Orpington FC's Miles Ring started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th minute, Rod Coulthard hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bob Nelthorpe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jo Burgess, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Eric Davis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Bob Nelthorpe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jo Burgess in the 13th minute of play forced Orpington FC's goalkeeper Bob Nelthorpe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jo Burgess received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Bob Nelthorpe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jo Burgess struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Bob Nelthorpe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cowplain. In the 23rd minute of the match Sammy Pascoe shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bob Nelthorpe showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Eric Davis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Bob Nelthorpe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Orpington FC's Bob Nelthorpe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jo Burgess in the 30th minute of play. Bob Nelthorpe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jo Burgess in the 34th minute of play. Jo Burgess recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jay Dlyan hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. If Eric Davis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 43 played minutes Orpington FC got a freekick which was hit by Jay Dlyan. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When Cowplain's Jo Burgess in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Orpington FC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 60th minute, Graham Fleetham hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Miles Ring's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rodd Shotton was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Martin Barrow hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Eric Davis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Bob Nelthorpe made a huge save. Fitz Furlong received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Rodd Shotton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jo Burgess kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. If Jo Burgess had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eric Davis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 84 played minutes Jo Burgess rounded Orpington FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-1. In the 87th minute, Graham Fleetham hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 92 minutes, Joshua Dawson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cowplain and the Orpington FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 93rd minute, Joshua Dawson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 95 minutes of play Orpington FC's Jay Dlyan was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 96th match minute, Orpington FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jay Dlyan to maneuver through the defense. Cowplain played a much better game than Orpington FC and deserved their victory. The Orpington FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
