Spectators: 7541 (Terracing: 5657, Seating: 1734, VIP seats: 150) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Jay Soussan kicked off to start the match. Alastair Wallbank received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Cliff Whitworth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gillingham Town FC's Alastair Wallbank got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Maroon's Cliff Whitworth proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Maroon from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Jay Soussan took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Cliff Whitworth to make any attempt to save it. Jay Soussan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cliff Whitworth having to interfere. 20 minutes into the match, Maroon's goal looked a bit too open when Jay Soussan came free, but Cliff Whitworth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brendon Metcalf hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Cliff Whitworth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jay Soussan in the 26th minute of play. In the 28th minute Jay Soussan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cliff Whitworth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jay Soussan in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cliff Whitworth saved Maroon from getting behind. Through an outstanding action, after 43 minutes, Cliff Whitworth successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jay Soussan in the 44th minute of play forced Maroon's goalkeeper Cliff Whitworth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

In the 54th minute, Jay Soussan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cliff Whitworth was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. When Jay Soussan came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Gillingham Town FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jay Soussan couldn't finish the play. Cliff Whitworth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alastair Wallbank, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jay Soussan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Cliff Whitworth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zane Boyd during the 80th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Maroon getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Zane Boyd hit a great ball. Cliff Whitworth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jay Soussan in the 82nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alastair Wallbank in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cliff Whitworth prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 88 minutes into the game, Gillingham Town FC's Jay Soussan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cliff Whitworth made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. In the 92nd minute Jay Soussan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cliff Whitworth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Jay Soussan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cliff Whitworth was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alastair Wallbank in the 96th minute of play forced Maroon's goalkeeper Cliff Whitworth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee ended the match the Gillingham Town FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
