Spectators: 7383 (Terracing: 5613, Seating: 1720, VIP seats: 50) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Martyn Yeo took the kick off in the first half of the match. With a little luck, Crouch End's Sid Tomkin got control of the ball when Sean Tetley tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sid Tomkin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sean Tetley went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Crouch End's Sid Tomkin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Crouch End from getting a goal against them. Sid Tomkin made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Sean Tetley sent off a good shot on target. The nice shot from Sean Tetley in the 19thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Sid Tomkin had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Crouch End's Sid Tomkin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Crouch End from getting a goal against them. After 25 played minutes Crouch End got a freekick which was hit by Christopher Radcliffe. Martyn Yeo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Southbourne getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Darren Ball hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sean Tetley got free with Sid Tomkin in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sid Tomkin came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Southbourne's Martyn Yeo. But to his dismay, Martyn Yeo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

In the 53rd minute Martyn Yeo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sid Tomkin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 58th minute, Calum Bentley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sid Tomkin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martyn Yeo in the 62nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Martyn Yeo in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sid Tomkin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Damian Griffiths had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 80th minute, Martyn Yeo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Martyn Yeo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Southbourne's supporters rose to their feet, but Martyn Yeo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sid Tomkin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Crouch End's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
