Spectators: 7454 (Terracing: 5667, Seating: 1737, VIP seats: 50) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Al Potterton started the match with the kick off. The supporters of Hackney FC booed when Southbourne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chaz Addison didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marty Eastwood showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Al Potterton in the 4th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Southbourne's zone, Dom Ellershaw stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marty Eastwood came out of the goal and Dom Ellershaw tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 13th minute, Chaz Addison hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marty Eastwood made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Al Potterton in the 17th minute of play. Marty Eastwood made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Al Potterton in the 33rd minute of play. After 34 played minutes Southbourne got a freekick which was hit by Chaz Addison. After having played for 43 minutes, Dom Ellershaw managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hackney FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dom Ellershaw was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Hackney FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Martyn Yeo made the kick off in the second half. Zane Crabtree fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marty Eastwood having to interfere. Dom Ellershaw received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Marty Eastwood tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dom Ellershaw sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dom Ellershaw got free with Marty Eastwood in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
