A very good chance for a goal. 10 minutes into the match, Pete Corcoran dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ray Bassett, 2-0. The supporters of BAC FC booed when Huyton United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brynn Platt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vinnie Carter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ray Bassett showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zak Croxford, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. In the 20th minute, Brad East got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. BAC FC's Vinnie Carter got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. BAC FC's Ray Bassett proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save BAC FC from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, BAC FC's Vinnie Carter got a free kick in the 27th minute. Pete Corcoran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Ray Bassett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ray Bassett was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Zak Croxford showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-0 in the 34 minute of play. The supporters of BAC FC booed when Huyton United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pete Corcoran didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tim Monkman hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Huyton United's goalkeeper Lennie Webster, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 44 played minutes Huyton United got a freekick which was hit by Mark Strickland. 47 minutes into the match, Zak Croxford dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ray Bassett, 5-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Brad East was the one to do the kick off. If Verne McGurk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 57th match minute, BAC FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Syd Carragher to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in BAC FC's zone, Pete Corcoran stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ray Bassett came out of the goal and Pete Corcoran tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. BAC FC's Ray Bassett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pete Corcoran in the 64th minute of play. A collision led to Huyton United getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Toby Keane hit a great ball. 83 minutes into the match, BAC FC's goal looked a bit too open when Zak Croxford came free, but Ray Bassett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 90 minutes into the game, Huyton United's Pete Corcoran nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ray Bassett made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-0. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Huyton United had won after a very even match.
