Seating: 1275, VIP seats: 25) Seth Litchfield started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After 3 played minutes Maine Road FC got a freekick which was hit by Joe Godfrey. In the 8th minute Don Portway shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Mansfield saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Laurence Legg hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Jude Reddington sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Jude Reddington managed to get in a good position for a shot. Maine Road FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jude Reddington was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ed Chadwick breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 21 minutes, Don Portway managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester Utd's supporters crossed their fingers, but Don Portway was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pedro Mansfield made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Seth Litchfield in the 29th minute of play. Pedro Mansfield didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Seth Litchfield went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After having played for 38 minutes, Don Portway managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester Utd's supporters crossed their fingers, but Don Portway was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Don Portway struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Pedro Mansfield didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manchester Utd. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
The wind increased when Sol Stockley made the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Maine Road FC's Pedro Mansfield got control of the ball when Don Portway tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Maine Road FC's Vance Thornton got a free kick in the 56th minute. Seth Litchfield sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jude Reddington received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Ed Chadwick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Maine Road FC booed when Manchester Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Travis Philips didn't get a good kick on the ball. Don Portway recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Seth Litchfield in the 80th minute of play forced Maine Road FC's goalkeeper Pedro Mansfield to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 80 played minutes Maine Road FC got a freekick which was hit by Vance Thornton. The audience was convinced that Seth Litchfield's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pedro Mansfield was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. Pedro Mansfield made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Seth Litchfield in the 89th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Don Portway got free with Pedro Mansfield in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Maine Road FC's Pedro Mansfield played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Seth Litchfield in the 93rd minute of play. Sol Stockley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Ed Chadwick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
