Benji Rashleigh kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. If Don Key had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16th minute, Warrington warrior's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Frank Leslie fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After 27 played minutes Warrington warrior got a freekick which was hit by Vernon Wendon. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Pallister in the 29th minute of play forced Zulu Army's goalkeeper Steve Bridgeman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vic Holden during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Philip Dobby was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 32nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Steve Bridgeman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Pallister in the 34th minute of the match. Steve Bridgeman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Don Key, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Frank Leslie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Ollie Attwood tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Don Key came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Warrington warrior fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Don Key couldn't finish the play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Don Key stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Steve Bridgeman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Don Key, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Don Key received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Steve Bridgeman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Don Key sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 64th minute, Don Key got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Don Key had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vic Holden hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Julian Pallister sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Don Key fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steve Bridgeman having to interfere. Vic Holden got his second yellow card in the match during the 73rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Vic Holden kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. If Don Key had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 79 minutes into the match, Zulu Army's goal looked a bit too open when Don Key came free, but Steve Bridgeman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Don Key took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Steve Bridgeman to make any attempt to save it. If Don Key had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcus Hamer in the 92nd minute of play forced Zulu Army's goalkeeper Steve Bridgeman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Malcolm McAleer came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Zulu Army fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Malcolm McAleer couldn't finish the play. Warrington warrior's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
