Seating: 1275, VIP seats: 25) Crowthorne's Alastair West started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Darren Craven came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Crowthorne fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Darren Craven couldn't finish the play. In the 5th minute, Darren Craven got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alastair West struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Pedro Mansfield didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Crowthorne. Pedro Mansfield made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darren Craven in the 10th minute of play. Darren Craven fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Mansfield having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alastair West in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro Mansfield saved Maine Road FC from getting behind. 16 minutes into the match, Maine Road FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alastair West came free, but Pedro Mansfield reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 21st minute, Alastair West hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Darren Craven received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Pedro Mansfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alastair West in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro Mansfield saved Maine Road FC from getting behind. Jude Reddington received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Dale Furlong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Crowthorne's Dale Furlong proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Crowthorne from getting a goal against them. After 30 played minutes Crowthorne got a freekick which was hit by Johnnie Blake. When Sol Stockley came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Maine Road FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sol Stockley couldn't finish the play. If Darren Craven had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alastair West sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 42 minutes, Darren Craven managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Crowthorne's supporters crossed their fingers, but Darren Craven was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Darren Craven sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alastair West received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Pedro Mansfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The wind increased when Sol Stockley made the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, Darren Craven got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alastair West fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Mansfield having to interfere. Darren Craven could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Pedro Mansfield made a huge save. In the 83rd minute Alastair West shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Mansfield saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85th minute, Crowthorne's Alastair West dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-1. After having played for 90 minutes, Alastair West managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
