Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Cliff Hehir started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd minute Chris Auckland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Denzil Coombe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jerry Patterson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phil Braithwaite having to interfere. A hard shot 7 in the game by Tosh Wardill from a close distance when the talented Phil Braithwaite managed to make a qualified save. Leek's players were relieved. Phil Braithwaite made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Tosh Wardill sent off a good shot on target. Liverpool Athletic's Tosh Wardill got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 18 minutes into the match, Liverpool Athletic's goal looked a bit too open when Chris Auckland came free, but Denzil Coombe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jerry Patterson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Phil Braithwaite tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 22 played minutes Liverpool Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Samuel Shipperley. Tosh Wardill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phil Braithwaite having to interfere. After 26 played minutes Leek got a freekick which was hit by Billie Burns. When Jerry Patterson came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Liverpool Athletic fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jerry Patterson couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Leek's Billie Burns got a free kick in the 28th minute. Tosh Wardill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Phil Braithwaite tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jerry Patterson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tosh Wardill struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Phil Braithwaite didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Liverpool Athletic. Samuel Shipperley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Denzil Coombe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cliff Hehir in the 48th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Jerry Patterson made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Jerry Patterson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phil Braithwaite saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cliff Hehir recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 64th minute, Max Hopton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Chris Auckland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denzil Coombe having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Tosh Wardill managed to get in a good position for a shot. Liverpool Athletic's supporters rose to their feet, but Tosh Wardill was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Phil Braithwaite breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 70th minute, Jamal Atkinson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 73 played minutes Leek got a freekick which was hit by Chris Auckland. If Tosh Wardill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chris Auckland came free with the goalkeeper in the 79th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Denzil Coombe could save by the left post. If Chris Auckland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. Denzil Coombe was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Phil Stamer took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Phil Braithwaite. Phil Braithwaite dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. When Billie Burns came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Leek fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Billie Burns couldn't finish the play. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
