After 7 minutes Egremont United's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Seth Brumfitt who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Seth Brumfitt almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Egremont United's Colin Ely did a great save. Clive Nancy struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Colin Ely didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wanlip City. After 12 played minutes Egremont United got a freekick which was hit by Rueben Dickens. Billie Kitchen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Iain Steed tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Benji Bourne during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 16th minute, Benji Bourne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 33 minutes of play Wanlip City's Benji Bourne was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After having played for 35 minutes, Billie Kitchen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Egremont United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Billie Kitchen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 38th minute, Travis Constantine hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Colin Ely made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jon Norton in the 42nd minute. Rueben Dickens hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jon Norton to strike the kick off in the second half. If Jon Norton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. In the 60th match minute, Wanlip City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Travis Constantine to maneuver through the defense. Seth Brumfitt took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 87th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Colin Ely. Egremont United's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Colin Ely showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jon Norton, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Despite being the better team, Wanlip City failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
