Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Jerry Patterson got the match started through his kick off. If Shane Speight had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 6th match minute, Stone was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by John King to maneuver through the defense. Tosh Wardill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 9 minutes into the match, Stone's goal looked a bit too open when Jerry Patterson came free, but Stu Freeman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Tosh Wardill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Denzil Coombe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from George Proctor, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tosh Wardill during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Liverpool Athletic getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Tosh Wardill hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jerry Patterson in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stu Freeman saved Stone from getting behind. Gez Chilton charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gez Chilton the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Damien Lyons placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tosh Wardill in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stu Freeman saved Stone from getting behind. Shane Speight could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Denzil Coombe made a huge save. The Stone players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Liverpool Athletic were winning 0-3.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when George Proctor stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute of the match Stone got a corner. Liverpool Athletic's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sidney Harris ran over to the corner to take the kick. Liverpool Athletic's Jerry Patterson got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Liverpool Athletic's Jerry Patterson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Stu Freeman. That made the score 0-4 after 56 minutes of play. After having played for 65 minutes, Jerry Patterson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Liverpool Athletic's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jerry Patterson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Stone's Nicky Reynolds suffered a sore thigh after 67 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 67 minutes into the game, Phil Stamer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Liverpool Athletic's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stone the free kick. After 68 played minutes Liverpool Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Phil Stamer. 71 minutes into the match Tosh Wardill climbed in front of goal and pressed up 0-6 in the right cross behind a totally surprised Stu Freeman. Jerry Patterson hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Tosh Wardill took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Stu Freeman. Stu Freeman dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-7. After 85 minutes, Jerry Patterson made it 0-8 with a short kick to the right side. Stone's Stu Freeman tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 89 minutes, Jerry Patterson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Liverpool Athletic's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jerry Patterson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Tosh Wardill came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Liverpool Athletic fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tosh Wardill couldn't finish the play.
