Antony Gavan might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Denzil Coombe. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Antony Gavan ran back to his position shaking his head. Darius Wilmott was out of position in the 16 minute of play, and Jerry Patterson capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jerry Patterson really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Liverpool Athletic's goalkeeper Denzil Coombe, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 24th minute Jerry Patterson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Darius Wilmott saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Liverpool Athletic's Tosh Wardill got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 26th match minute, Aldeburgh FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ian Fairfax to maneuver through the defense. Tosh Wardill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darius Wilmott having to interfere. If Tosh Wardill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tosh Wardill got free with Darius Wilmott in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 42 minutes, Tosh Wardill managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Liverpool Athletic's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tosh Wardill was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tosh Wardill's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Darius Wilmott read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerry Patterson in the 48th minute of play forced Aldeburgh FC's goalkeeper Darius Wilmott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Ritchie Routledge made the kick off in the second half. When Brian Weir fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Aldeburgh FC's protests and gave Brian Weir a yellow card for diving instead. After 52 played minutes Aldeburgh FC got a freekick which was hit by Brian Weir. The audience was convinced that Jerry Patterson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Darius Wilmott was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. Darius Wilmott showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tosh Wardill, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Darius Wilmott prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Max Hopton's late challenge caught a Aldeburgh FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Max Hopton helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Liverpool Athletic getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Max Hopton hit a great ball. 84 minutes into the match, Liverpool Athletic's Tosh Wardill sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Darius Wilmott narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Darius Wilmott took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tosh Wardill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Tosh Wardill managed to get in a good position for a shot. Liverpool Athletic's supporters rose to their feet, but Tosh Wardill was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Darius Wilmott took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tosh Wardill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 92 minutes into the match, Max Hopton notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Aldeburgh FC's Darius Wilmott. Darius Wilmott was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Antony Gavan got free with Denzil Coombe in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Liverpool Athletic had played much better football throughout.
